Track email open rate using Google Analytics

Tracking an email campaign can be little tough. Tracking every data at a single place is even tougher. Using this blog post, you can track email open rate and click-through rates using Google Analytics.

Here are the steps that you need to follow to track open rates and click rates using Google Analytics:

1. Generate a Google Analytics measurement URL which should look something like this:*|UNIQID|*&t=event&ec=email&ea=open&el=*|UNIQID|*&cs=newsletter&cm=email&cn=062413&cm1=1

Where tid is Google Analytics Id, cid – campaign id, ec – event category, ea – event action, el = event label, cs – campaign source, cm- campaign medium.

2. Use this link as an image source and embed it in your email HTML code like this:

3. Now, this event will be triggered whenever their email is opened, and using this you can track email open rates and source of the campaign and medium of campaign and lot more.
